Dr JK Shah is a Medical Director & Chief Consultant. He is a renowned eye surgeon of Mumbai. He has been in private practice since last 33 years. He has completed his Masters in Ophthalmology from Grant Medical College/ Sir JJ hospital, Mumbai. His passion for ophthalmology has no bounds since then. He set up his own private practice at Four Bungalows, Andheri West in 1982 and its no looking back since then. His understanding of patients’ problems and knowledge has won hearts of thousands of patients.

He has attended various national and international conferences and hospitals to stay updated in latest treatment options for the patients and use his skills to make it available for his own patients. He is one of the pioneers of ECCE/ Phacoemulsification surgery in Mumbai and India. He has always been well equipped with latest tools for surgical and diagnostic purposes and is a true believer in giving the best of eye care to his patients.

Earning money has always been secondary in his life…he treated the poor and the rich with the same commitment and resources. He helped all the poor and needy patients with compassion. In this connect he started giving back to society right from his early days of practice by doing cataract surgery camps to reach as many remote areas as possible.

He joined Vimla Dermatological Hospital in 1982 at Yaari Road and started a fully fledged eye OPD and OT for leprosy and general patients. He started a monthly 3 day eye camp in his native place Moti Jher near Nadiad, Kheda district in Gujarat, where he has not only given selfless service to the villagers nonstop since last 30 yrs but also trained number of doctors all over India and rest of the world for Phacoemulsification surgery. Apart from being a humanitarian he has been an excellent teacher to many ophthalmic surgeons. He has his own way to manage GLAUCOMA patients with the experience of 30 years in this field.
