Dr Nimisha is a Consulting Corneal Surgeon who completed her MBBS from P.T.J.N.M Medical College, Raipur. She went on to complete her DNB (Ophthalmology) from Medical Research Foundation, Chennai. In 2006, she completed ICO Basic Sciences and in 2007, ICO Clinical Sciences both from International Council of Ophthalmology, UK. Subsequent to this, she undertook a Cornea fellowship from Medical Research Foundation, Chennai.
Dr Nimisha is proficient in a number of Ophthalmic procedures and competencies including Corneal Scraping, Glue BCLs, BSK removals, Silicone plug implants and punctal cautery.
Amongst the various diagnostic procedures, she specialises in Specular Microscopy, Keratometry, Corneal Topography, Aberrometry and Pentacam
Dr Nimisha specializes in various surgical procedures including Ptreygium removal with conjunctival autograft with / without fibrin glue, amniotic membrane transplants, penetrating and lamellar keratoplasties and independent collagen cross linking (C3R). She has also assisted a number of procedures including DSEKs, Osteo-odonto Keratoprosthesis (OOKP), Boston keratoprosthesis surgeries, Ocular Surface reconstruction surgeries, limbal cell transplants. She has also performed several LASIK and Epi-LASIK procedures.
In the course of her practice, Dr Nimisha has performed more than 1000 Phacoemulsification procedures with foldable lens implantations, more than 100 SICS with IOL implantation, 400 ECCE with IOL implantation, ECCE with IOL with Trabeculectomy with MMC, YAG Capsulotomy and Iridotomy, Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), Enucleation and Evisceration
Besides the above, Dr Shah has also participated in eye camps for screening of Diabetic Retinopathy and Cataract. She also provides tele-ophthalmic consultation thus benefitting a number of patients.
Besides her regular practice, Dr Shah has presented at a number of AIOS sessions on wide ranging topics including Ocular Trauma, Management of Hypopyon Uveitis, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) for assessment of Cystoid Macular Edema.
While studying at the Medical Research Foundation, Dr Shah made a number of presentations viz. new treatments for Serpiginous Choroiditis, Endophthalmitis, Basics of Optics, Ocular Toxoplasmosis and many more.
During her career spanning almost a decade, Dr Nimisha has attended a number of conferences including All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), BOA Bombay Ophthalmologists Association (BOA) and Maharashtra Ophthalmological Society (MOS). She has also participated in workshops on LASIK, Cornea unplugged with Lamellar Keratoplasty, Ocular Surface and Keratoprosthesis.
Dr Shah believes in giving back to society in whatever way possible and has been conducting monthly eye camps for the last nine years.
She aspires to set up an eye bank and develop new cost effective techniques for management of corneal disorders at community service level. She also plans to research stem cells for the management of Ocular Surface Disorders. She intends to learn newer techniques for Lamellar Corneal Surgeries, Refractive Surgeries and Keratoprosthesis.
During her free time Dr Nimisha pursues a variety of other interests like Music, Badminton, Volleyball, Swimming, Gardening and Cooking.
